Figure 32. Kelly and Philip rest in Lazy Lizard Spiral

Figure 32. Kelly and Philip relax into the Lazy Lizard Spiral. The spiral pattern is created as the body naturally rolls a little toward the extended leg. The other knee is bent and lifted up to the side, with the hip lifted off the floor. The knee and elbow angles help to ground the movement. The rotation through the spine is gentle and well distributed along the length of the back. You can see traces of the rotations in the diagonal wrinkles of the pants and shirts. Notice that the arm frames the head in the direction of the turn. When the head turns away from the arm, the flow is less organic, even as this is a possible movement for some people. If you try the inorganic way, turn the head back for relief. Kelly and Philip contact their breath while they rest, and allow the belly to relax toward the floor and gravity (Eastwest Workshop, SUNY Brockport, 2006).
